What Does ‘Departed FedEx Hub’ Mean?
This tracking status means that your FedEx package left one of the sorting facilities, and it’s on the way to the transit or destination country.
Under most circ*mstances, this status is assigned for international or cross-border packages and we usually see it under the “On The Way” FedEx General update.
What Is The Difference Between “Departed FedEx Location” and “Departed FedEx Hub?”
When FedEx tells you that your package “departed FedEx location,” it means that it left one of the sorting facilities in your country (state) and is going to the next facility for further processing or it has been loaded onto a vehicle to be delivered to you.
Conversely, “Departed FedEx hub” is a tracking status sent for packages coming from another state or country and indicates that the package has left one of the FedEx facilities in the origin country, transit country, or destination country, heading toward the recipient.

Customs Clearance Delay
One of the most common reasons why your package is stuck on “Departed FedEx Hub” for several days is that there are customs clearance delays.
What’s even worse is that sometimes FedEx doesn’t update the recipients when the package has started the clearance process, and while they might be thinking that it is stuck on “departed,” it could be that it is sitting somewhere in a customs office.
Lack Of Scanning
Sometimes, FedEx doesn’t scan packages across each step they make so that they can save some time.
Understandably, scanning packages takes time, and it’s even more time-consuming when there are high volumes of packages to be transported.
While packages that haven’t been scanned in the interest of saving time might end up getting to the recipient faster, it can also be inconveniencing as one has to rely on chance on whether the item will get to them or not.
Just so you know, packages that haven’t been scanned might be stuck on the “Departed FedEx Hub” for days. The situation will be so until another scan is made.
Transit Delays
While a vehicle might have left a FedEx hub, transit delays can make it impossible for such a package to be updated for days.

even weeks.
Secondly, inclement weather can happen after the vehicle leaves one of the FedEx hubs, and depending on how severe it is, it can take several days or weeks before the vehicle can move or packages can be offloaded to be routed to the right facilities or destinations.
The last instance is where there are backlogs. While the vehicle might have departed one of the hubs, it might find that the next hub is overwhelmed with packages, and they have to wait for the backlogs to be cleared before the truck can be offloaded and have such packages sorted once more.
In all these instances of transit delays, it depends on the severity of the reason leading to the delay before a new scan can be made on your package.
What Do I Do When My Package Is Stuck On “Departed FedEx Hub” For Days?
When your package is stuck on this status and it’s past the agreed delivery date you had with the sender, we recommend that you contact them to file a claim with FedEx.
If your package was lost in transit, FedEx will end up compensating them, and the sender will be in a position to send you a replacement package or a refund.
