Summary
Provides financial, and statistical information to management, staff, and external customers in compliance with internal, and external requirements by efficiently accessing the organization's financial, and decision support systems, and through effectively analyzing, and verifying the inputs, and outputs from those systems.
Job Duties
- Prepares accurate, complete, concise, and understandable financial information for timely distribution to internal and external users. Financial information includes, but is not limited to patient accounts, patient claims, patient transactions, revenue calculations, payer mix calculations and payment rate benchmarking.
- Builds financial models to assist in payer contract negotiations.
- Runs reports to compile patient financial data including accounts, claims and transactions.
- Utilizes health system data for use in analyses, creates payer comparison grids and generates payer rate tables using relevant contractual terms.
- Interprets contractual language to understand payment methodologies, payment rates and relevant financial language to assist in financial calculations.
- Calculates relevant payer metrics for use in payer comparisons, financial analyses and dashboards.
- Serves as a resource to management to assist in ad hoc projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 3 years experience as an accountant, financial analyst or the equivalent.
- Knowledge of hospital and physician payment methodologies.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers operated in a Windows environment and ability to use various mainframe and PC-based software applications. Proficiency in Excel and Word is required.
- Must function cooperatively as part of the Payer Contracting team and exhibit flexibility in response to changing demands and priorities.
- Work requires effective written and oral communication skills with a need for communications to be complete, concise and understandable. The target audience varies from department leadership to internal and external stakeholders.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
