I'm wondering something. I'm a Star Trek TNG fan and earlier this weekend I was watching the episode DataLore where Lore poison's his brother Data. Since their both androids, robots, it got me thinking.
Since the Transformers drink energon, could they be poisoned? I don't think it's ever been shown as such other than the cosmic-rust episode where we see Megatron getting sick. But I don't think that's the same thing as being poisoned. What do you think?

Sure, why not? The hate plague in Return of Optimus Prime is kind of like an infectious disease.

Asa a matter of fact this was done in the Marvel G1 comics. After Galen and the Headmasters left Nebulon, and the Decepticons behind them, a scientist got the bright idea to poison the worlds energy sources so that any returning TF's could not use it long with out killing themselfs.
This story also led to the creation of the Powermasters and the return of Optimus in the comics.

There was also Sparkplug poisoning the fuel the Decepticons forced him to create for them very early in the Marvel run.

I'd say yes. Mix some Energon with something that can screw up a cybertronian's inner-workings and *BAM*: One Sick/Dying/Dead transformer.

I always figured it was like a steroid: it gave you some serious juice, but at a high cost.

That's what I was gonna say. Dark Energon is tainted Energon.@Honorbound- If I remember correctly continual use of Dark Energon leads to insanity. Therefore it is poisoning the processor of any transformer who uses it if nothing else.

Any living creature could in theory be poisoned. It would just be a case of how the poisoning would happen.Same goes for plagues and viruses. They must exist somewhere in the fiction, they just don't get a lot of play time in the series or the comics.

Sure they can, Beast Machines is a perfect example of it. Megatron pretty much poison the entire planet's population.

in beast wars Tarantulas, Blackarachnia, and Scorponok could all make Cyber-venoms/virus or could produce toxic stings, using them in beast mode, or able to shoot them in robot mode.
including the virus to make Primal's aggression rise (even though it was supposed to make him a wimp).
and the virus making Rhinox sneeze away his Energon reserves.and Megatron's transformation virus in beast machines.

Speaking of overdose, wasn't there an episode in G1 where the Decepticons were "drunk" and Megatron was talking about the good ol' days on Cybertron?

I do believe that fire ******ant foam has some adverse effects on tfs. Don't know if that would be counted as poisoning tho

All you need is to put something highly corrosive in one of their vital fluids. Lots of internal damage and probably serious physical impairment if you put it in their lubrication system.

Blackarachnia's cybervenom is a "poison" in Animated, no?What about software viruses? Do we want to count them as "poisons" for cybertronians?
