50s and 60s right now. so some mild air inland like danville, livermore, brentwood. good morning. fairfield coming in at 62. but some of our valleys like santa rosa a little bit chillier coming in at 48 degrees. but it will be a warm afternoon. here's the inland forecast today. you can see a lot of sunshine out there. temperatures warm quickly this afternoon. no heat advisories in effect, but we will be in the low and mid 90s for daytime highs and our hottest spots inland around the bay shoreline. we'll see sunshine very quickly this morning. it's a nice looking morning. temperatures in the upper 70s, if not near 80 degrees for some. and then along the coast it's a mix of sun and clouds all day long and highs in the upper 50s to the lower 60s. let's check in with sue, see how those drive types here one. >> good morning drew. good morning everyone. happy monday. there is such a thing as we head to the san mateo bridge tail lights heading to the western side of the span, up the high rise and over towards the san mateo side of things. i will say that we have an accident in san mateo. i'm going to get to that

in just a second. sky is just lighting up a little bit. golden gate bridge no fog this morning. it's a smooth ride all the way into the city from marin county. now here's our issue. it is in san mateo. it is northbound 101 near third avenue. what happened is a truck, some sort of a box truck had flipped over. it was carrying 16,000 pounds of avocados. those. so we have a photographer on the way to try to take a look at that. two lanes are getting by. three lanes are blocked. you are stacked up to kehoe and it is a bit of a mess. so it's going to take some time to clear up. we'll be back with more details in just a few. >> this case has absolutely where it stands right now. has no impact on her ability to be oakland's mayor. >> that reaction from the mayor's attorney after the fbi raided the mayor's home and property is connected to a recycling company. it's the closest thing to a response we've received from the mayor, but nothing directly from mayor tao herself. it's not just the

federal investigation she's being asked to respond to. there's also the mass shooting where 15 people were hurt at lake merritt. and of course, the push to recall her abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez in the studio this morning with the latest reaction from the community concerned with the mayor's silence and with safety in the city. >> good morning reggie. we've been following the story from the start, and for four days now, we've tried to get in touch with mayor shengtao and have not gotten any statement directly from her. her attorney, though, tells us he hasn't seen any evidence that tao is a focus of the federal investigation. but oakland residents are concerned this investigation is impacting her ability to run the city where she down, where she town about two dozen residents gathering outside oakland city hall yesterday speaking out against oakland mayor sheng tao. the mayor has not spoken publicly since the fbi raided her home last thursday, and other locations connected to

california waste solutions agents were seen taking boxes of evidence away, and sources tell abc seven news this is a public corruption investigation. the mayor also has not spoken since at least 15 people were shot near lake merritt. >> she's supposed to be our leader. she didn't even know what we don't even know what she is. she didn't even come and apologize to what's going on with our city. these people that got shot like she didn't even come and say, we hope you all get better. >> the organization asians unite and coalition for community engagement plan this rally and these residents had previously been vocal in their support to recall mayor tao. last week, the registrar of voters confirmed there are now enough signatures, more than 40,000 to allow the measure on the ballot. those there, though, say the concern at this exact moment is not the recall, but the city budget that will soon need to be passed. and we have reached out to mayor sheng tao's office to get her take on that, but got no response. her attorney says the

case has no impact on her ability to be mayor, and this morning, the group oakland united to recall tao is having a news conference and they're calling for her to return to city hall or resign immediately. live in the studio. gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> this is clearly an ongoing investigation. we're going to stay on it. so stay with abc seven news to learn the latest about what's happening with the mayor and how it will affect the city of oakland. we'll continue to update you at abc seven news.com and the abc seven bay area app. >> a chaotic weekend in vallejo and not enough officers to respond. police say four people were shot sunday morning. no word on how they're doing. it happened around 3 a.m. near springs road near monterey street. this one call took up most police resources. officers tell the chronicle they were unable to break up a large sideshow a few miles away because they were tied up at the scene of the shooting. they say a crowd of about 400 people gathered at the intersection of mini drive and lewis brown

drive, a car was set on fire during the sideshow. we have new details about a massive sideshow that stopped traffic on the bay bridge early sunday morning can see those fireworks going off, cars, doing donuts. some people parked on the bridge to watch other people just got stuck in the backup. this video specifically was taken around 2 a.m. on sunday from the eastbound span. the chp is telling us more than 150 cars took part in the sideshow, and some even pointed lasers at a chp helicopter. the chp says that the sideshow started to break up around 2:20 a.m. they took several people into custody , tied to a hit and run crash and a separate police chase. >> we've been following this story for a week now, and this morning, firefighters are close to containment on the point fire in sonoma county. they're at 90% right now. it's been days since

that fire has grown south of lake sonoma. the fire destroyed three buildings last week. there are more than 350 firefighters putting out what is still smoldering. cal fire says the point fire is one of the largest fires they've seen in that area before july 1st, fire season, certainly off to a busy start. >> look at this map. several major fires forced evacuations over the past week. statewide, more than 90,000 acres burned the area, triple the size of san francisco. fortunately, we have not seen widespread damage to people's homes. here's a heads up if you are in the grizzly peak and tilden park areas of the east bay. this week, the berkeley fire department is holding wildfire response drills. they're going to happen today, wednesday and friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. several other fire departments are also participating. officials say it may look like a real incident, but you don't have to be concerned. >> we're learning more this morning about the speed of recovery from destructive fires. four years ago. the 2020 ccu lightning complex fires

destroyed nearly 700 homes in santa cruz and san mateo counties, a new grand jury report finds. only about a third of those homes have been rebuilt. homes owners said. problems with insurance, the cost of rebuilding and complications with the permitting process kept them from rebuilding. the report recommends changes including a public private partnership to help victims and centers to expedite the building permit process after disasters. >> today marks two years since the u.s. supreme court overturned roe v wade, ending the constitutional right to abortion. dozens of rallies and protests are planned across the country, including here in the bay area, to voice support for women's reproductive reproductive freedom. at least 21 republican controlled states have successfully enacted abortion restrictions in the past two years. democrats are promising action if they gain control of congress in november. if we have the trifecta, the house, the senate and the white house, then we are going to make

roe versus wade law of the land again. the supreme court could be looking at another landmark case this week. they're set to rule on whether or not medical emergencies override state abortion bans before they leave for summer recess. abortion is expected to be one of the top issues when voters go to polls. this november, and it's expected to be a big topic when former president trump and president biden meet for the first debate later this week, both men spent time over the weekend preparing for the debate on thursday. it will be the earliest debate in modern history. president biden and former president trump support the move, both hoping to reach early voters. will have a different format from debates we've seen in the past. there will be no studio audience. the candidates microphones will be muted when it's not their turn to speak. you can watch the debate hosted by cnn right here on abc seven

thursday night. abc news coverage starts at 5:00. the debate itself starts at six 5-10 this morning. >> hello, san jose, a live look outside. it is clear out there. we're finding a pretty compact marine layer this morning. so for a lot of us we're starting out cloud free. in fact san jose coming in with clear skies. plenty of stars out there. current temperature 63 degrees, high humidity and the winds are pretty calm. so looking at the morning planner as we get you going, you see a lot of sunshine. it's going to be a bright morning. we're not fighting much cloud cover right now. so that means temperatures are comfortable. upper 50s, lower 60s over the next couple of hours. and in our warmest areas already getting into the 70s by about 10 a.m. so your sunglasses will be your best accessory today. now, highs depending on where you are, are close above or below average for this time of the year. for a lot of us, temperatures will be a few degrees above average into the 80s and 90s from napa to livermore, 90. in concord, san francisco, the one area that is

abc seven traffic center. we have a live shot now of highway 101 in san mateo. what's going on here? we have a box truck, as you can see in the center. divide that has spilled its load of avocados, 16,000 pounds of avocados on the street. trying to get a look at those avocados. but nonetheless, three lanes are blocked. you can see the two right lanes are getting by. northbound 101. the chp has issued a special traffic alert, a sigalert looks like a tow truck is backing up right there to the scene to get that box truck out of the way, and then they'll need to be some cleanup again. this is north 101 and san mateo near third avenue, two lanes getting by three lanes blocked an avocado spill. the reason why guys. >> all right. thank you sue. time now is 515 in the east bay lake fest brought the community out to oakland's lake merritt over the weekend. thousands of people strolled checking out the booths, snacking on the food, and really just enjoying the weather. during this annual

summer festival. it was the first big event since 15 people were shot during a juneteenth celebration last week near the lake, oakland police provided extra security for the event on saturday, including 30 to 50 officers who were on hand to patrol. >> it's great. it's safe. there's plenty of police around that, don't. we cannot let these knuckleheads interfere with us living a good life >> lake fest vendors say they appreciate the security measures put in place for the event. >> building a better bay area is our mission here at abc7 this morning. we want to share with you a win for a neighborhood that could really use one. in san francisco, a block party in the tenderloin is giving hope to many families with kids. abc seven news reporter luz pena talked to organizers of the program sunday streets, about the impact of the event. everything live music, food trucks and entertainment. >> this is the oasis many

families in san francisco's tenderloin have been waiting for. >> i feel like it really is needed and it really shows how the tenderloin is changing. >> henricia spencer and her four kids left their home and followed the music to golden gate avenue. it's really cool, i like it, my sisters are having fun and so i'm having fun too. there are more than 3000 children living in the tenderloin. that's more than in any other san francisco neighborhood. so seeing this today made many of them feel special. >> you want to be a basketball player? yeah. yes. so you're practicing? >> yeah. >> i go to the gym every day. >> this neighborhood party is an event by sunday streets. san francisco, a program by the nonprofit livable city. they have been doing block parties in different neighborhoods for years. this is the first one of the summer series. >> the next one is going to be in excelsior on july 21st. that one is going to be about a mile long and length, and we have

five more events that we'll be doing. >> saint anthony's foundation sponsored the block party at their golden gate greenway, a project aiming to permanently close the 100 block of golden gate avenue. for events like this, the vision of the golden gate greenway that's shared by all nine nonprofit partners on the street with saint anthony's leading, is what would it look like if every day could be like sunday streets, a closed block where people from the community can come out and really claim it as their own? the nonprofit circus center was one of the local vendors hoping to inspire children. >> you have to get outside of your environment to be able to see things and expand your horizons and circus. you bring it into that environment in the surrounding areas. >> people doing and selling drugs is still a reality that is not only affecting families, but businesses. recently, city supervisors gave initial approval to a store curfew during overnight hours to fight

dealing with five six days of temperatures well into the 90s. today much more comfortable at 81 degrees. a similar story in chicago at 83. but look at denver. they're still in the midst of a heat wave. 96 for a daytime high, even hotter in atlanta. seattle looking lovely with a high of 70. and honolulu a little breezy this afternoon, but a daytime high pretty close to average at 85 degrees. now back here at home, if you're staying here, it's going to be a lovely afternoon. we have warm sunshine on the way. little cloud cover. the only exception is a mix of sun and clouds today along the coast. as we head deeper into the day, those temperatures will warm into the 90s and our warmest areas inland , 70s and 80s around the bay shoreline in the city. we'll stay in the mid 60s and along the coast, mainly in the upper 50s today, so highs are a few degrees above average to kick off a new week here, we'll go to 90 in concord, about 88. in santa rosa there's that 64 in the city today, 72 in oakland. after a start in the 50s, right now, 86 in san jose, 70s for the peninsula and then the coast, we'll go 58 half moon bay. but

78. we'll hit 86 in san jose, a little bit warmer in santa rosa at 88, but not too hot for this time of the year. low and mid 90s from concord to antioch and then san francisco. a noticeably cooler but still pretty close to average, coming with a high of 64 degrees. now overnight tonight, a mix of stars and clouds out there, 40s and 50s. the name of the game. as we get into tuesday. now this is the time of the year we have to start watching some mid-level cloud cover coming in. sometimes this can bring some instability in the form of thunderstorms. that does not look like that's going to happen over us, but tomorrow afternoon that may happen in the central sierra. and it's that time of the year. we could have some dry lightning strikes. we'll keep our eyes on that. but otherwise we'll keep those temperatures pretty comfortable here throughout the week as we head towards the end of the week. future tracker temperatures showing you very nice, pretty close to average. a slight dip in those temperatures on saturday, but then we bounce back nicely on sunday. the entire weekend is going to be great. lots of sunshine here both saturday and sunday. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. warm sunshine today. some additional clouds tomorrow.

year old lucas mclish went for a hike at big basin on june 11th, but got lost and he was not reported missing by his family until he missed father's day dinner. that was five days later, and it would take even longer to find him. however, that search ended on thursday when some hikers heard him yelling for help and he was spotted in a remote canyon. >> i'll just make sure that i drank at least a gallon of water every day. but then after, like getting close to the end of it, i was just. my body needed food and some type of sustenance. >> oh my goodness. >> all he had on him was a flashlight and a pair of folding scissors, and he managed to survive ten days in the wilderness with no major injuries. >> that's incredible. target is turning to ai to help store employees be more efficient. the company says it will eventually roll out a store companion chatbot app at all of its nearly 2000 stores. the ai tool will be installed on store owned devices to answer workers questions
